For the first time since the end of 2002 I’m going to be working a regular Monday through Friday schedule for more than a week or two. It’s a welcome change, but along with it comes some major schedule adjustments. It really does feel strange working like a normal person and getting a weekend!
Along with that, I’ve started preparation for my next major professional certification: The Certified Information Systems Security Professional, or CISSP. Click here to learn more about the CISSP (just look through the menus for CISSP information… there’s a lot there!).
In my opinion, it’s an essential certification for anybody who really wants to call themselves a computer security pro. You have to know a lot of things about a lot of things, and preparing for the exam shows you how much you still have to learn. But since I’m one of those people who want to both work and be a marketer, it’s the next logical step. And I’ll take that step on Saturday, October 13. In the meantime, there’s LOTS to be done.
Did I mention that I’m looking forward to Sunday, October 14?
Speaking of professionals who choose to continue practicing their profession while building a business, may I mention Dr. Mani? He’s holding another blog-a-thon this Saturday (September 15, 2007). Just click on the graphic to learn more:
I’ve also taken up the challenge to hold my own mini blog-a-thon this Saturday to show my support for Dr. Mani’s great cause. Of course, I *DO* have one selfish request for Dr. Mani… Could you please record yourself pronouncing your last name (it’s “Sivasubramanian”!)? Thanks…
Here’s what you can expect from me during my four hours at the keyboard:
* Security tips for home-based entrepreneurs and small-small businesses.
* Tips anybody can use to protect their home computers.
* The results of an independent virus detection test — and which free anti-virus software does the best job of detecting viruses. This product ranked THIRD in the tests, ahead of a couple of names you’d probably recognize…
And my last mini blog-a-thon post? How about this: any general computer security or business protection related question that’s posted within 24 hours of that final post will get an answer. Post your questions via comment or trackback and they’ll be answered by a certified computer security professional — me!
And there might be a special offer on a product I’ve been working on if you don’t mind a couple of strings attached (nothing serious). No promises, but…
At least two of the tips I’ll leave on my blog will be samples of the type of content you’ll get in a membership site that’s currently in the concept stages.
Oh, and don’t be surprised if some of the really good content disappears sometime next week… I’m bringing out my best for this mini blog-a-thon, but you have to visit this blog DURING the event to get the good stuff.
Oh, and one last thing: Click here to visit the Official Dr. Mani Heart Kids Blog-a-thon blog. That’s where he’s going to be blogging during his FULL 24 hour blog-a-thon.
Hope to see you Saturday,
Tom
