I’m working on a special report about email marketing. It’s going to contain some tips about what you can do to help build trust with your list.
One of those items is going to be setting expectations. We’ve all heard about it before; if you promise apples, then don’t deliver oranges. Nothing really new here.
What I am “pushing” for, however, is to get people to take action when list owners routinely violate those expectations. For example, I just unsubscribed from a mailing list that was established to keep affiliates updated about a product. An email popped into my Inbox that was a promotion for a coaching program. I immediately pulled up the other emails I had received from this person and discovered that all of his so-called affiliate updates were nothing more than promotions for high-end products.
Click! Unsubscribe. I’m allergic to oranges…
Thanks for listening,
Tom
