OT: Microsoft’s Hidden Agenda?

(ALERT: If you have an impaired humor gene, don’t read this… It’s meant to be taken lightly while poking a bit of fun at… something…)

This one was just too good to pass up.

I saved a copy of my old blog in both SQL and XML format before I committed blogicide several months ago (see the first post on this blog if you want more details about that). On occasion, I go back into that backup to pull out old posts that deserve a place on the Internet. I call them “Blogicide Resurrection” posts.

I’m getting ready to revive a few more posts and wanted to see if Internet Explorer 6 (which I seldom use) could handle the XML file and display it as a web page. When I tried to load it, here is the error message I received:

Microsoft's hidden agenda; please enable graphics to view

That’s right: the “error” is that “The operation completed successfully”!

It appears that Microsoft might have a hidden agenda; they apparently don’t want ANYTHING to work correctly. Why else would you get an error message that says, “The operation completed successfully”? If it works, it must be broken! Let’s “fix” it!

Just another undocumented feature of Internet Explorer, I guess… I’m glad that I switched to FireFox a while back

Thanks for listening,
Tom
