At Last — Before And After Pictures

Yes, I promised them a month ago — now they are here. On this blog.

First, a disclaimer: While I call them “before and after” pictures, the “after” picture is actually more of a “now” picture. I still have a long ways to go. While I’m quite happy with my weight, now I need to work more on overall conditioning. For starters, I’m going to go back to a home routine I was doing several years ago. I liked the results, felt comfortable with it, and it will get me back into the habit of exercising.

After that, I’m going to start making adjustments. I like Roger Haeske’s concepts (such as the Pushup Blaster program) and want to incorporate them into my routine and lifestyle.

So I do hope that you enjoy the “before and now” pictures, and truly hope that they inspire you to consider abandoning your lifestyle for the 80/10/10 raw food lifestyle.

(NOTE: If you click on each of the thumbnails, a larger version of that picture will open in a new browser window.)

This picture was taken on December 9, 2007:

And this one on December 14, 2007 (note the “Kitchen” theme? :) ):

And the “now” picture, taken June 26, 2008:

See what’s possible with a simple diet change?

Discoveries

It has been a while since a “real” post appeared on this blog. No excuses, though. I don’t like excuses, but will nevertheless try to explain what’s been going on.

To put it simply, I don’t write if I don’t feel like writing, and I quite simply haven’t felt much like writing lately. Far from some type of depression, however, my lack of writing is inversely proportional to the amount of “living” that I do. This past month saw us taking a trip to the ocean, followed by a trip to the States, followed by a week of spending time with the family. I’m also working during the day now, which has had a surprising impact on how I use my time. I didn’t think that it would make that much of a difference, but I was wrong.

Boom! Month gone. It was wonderful and I enjoyed every minute of it. But August awaits, and it’s time to get back to writing.

I mentioned a while back that I want to experiment with waking up every day at the same time. That time is going to be somewhere between 4:00 AM and 4:30 AM. I haven’t decided yet which it will be; however, since I have to be at work by about 5:30 AM on work days, I need to get up early on those days. That pretty much dictates that I’ll be getting up early on my days off, too. My wife has already said “OK” to an early bedtime (somewhere between 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM), and as always, I’m extremely grateful for such a supporting partner (and today is our ninth anniversary, too!).

So I’m going to decide this weekend on the exact wakeup time, and except for a few situations (like when I’m traveling with the family and we are all staying in a small hotel room!), I’m going to get up every day at that time for the next several weeks. I want to see the effect that this will have on me. I suspect that it will be good.

I also do my best work when I first wake up, and since nobody is up and about in our house until at least 7:00 AM, I should have at least 2-1/2 hours every morning on the days I don’t go to my job to get stuff done. I think it’s going to have a very positive impact on a lot of things. Combine that with some new goal setting techniques that I’m implementing (more on that in a future post) and LOTS should start happening soon.

Exciting times!

And while it was never my intent, I also see this blog moving in a couple of different directions. First, I’m enjoying this blog, and I’m thinking about moving it to its own domain. I haven’t quite yet decided if I’m going to do that, though, because I also see this blog moving from a “simple” blog about my transition to an all raw food 80/10/10 diet to a blog about self-improvement in general. Not that I’m an expert, but if something I did brought about a change that somebody else wants to make, then perhaps my example could inspire them to also take action. I’d really like that. At any rate, moving the blog would require a careful choice of domain names, and it’s hard to do that until you decide exactly what the blog is going to be about! So we continue to wait, and write “here” in the interim.

So I’m “back in business”, so to speak, and you should start hearing more from me in the days to come. As always, I thank you for taking a few moments of your irreplaceable time to read this blog out of the billions of other choices you have available to you, and if you’d take a few more moments to leave a comment, I’d love to hear from you.

Tom

Still Here

Yes, I’m still alive…

It’s been a busy couple of last few weeks, and besides, I simply haven’t felt much like writing for some reason. Combine those two and there haven’t been many posts. Lots of reasons, excuses, whatever you want to say or do or call them, but I’ll still be making posts.

And hopefully more frequently soon.

Smacznego,
Tom
