A New And Interesting Phase

by email on June 12, 2008

Just getting lazy…

I’ve entered a rather interesting phase of my still relatively new all raw foods lifestyle. To be succinct, I’m getting tired of it.

Yup. All of that cooked and processed food is looking good.

HOWEVER, I’m going to give the bottom line up front. I switched to this new lifestyle to give myself a good chance of being around on this planet for a lot longer than I think would have been previously possible. My current diet and lifestyle is MUCH better than what I was eating before. I was eating to please my taste buds (and to occasionally appease my conscience); now I eat what I should be eating.

It’s kind of like my car. I can put whatever I want in the gas tank, but if I want the car to run, I’d better put in regular unleaded gas. Same thing goes for my body; I can put whatever I want into it, but I’d better put in what’s good for it — lots of raw fruits and vegetables.

So I’m not about to quit now. I didn’t change because of the taste; I changed to be healthy.

If I had to do it again, I would have gone completely through Roger Haeske’s transition program to the letter. I think that a gradual “weaning” from a cooked food addiction might have worked better than going “cold turkey” — which is pretty much how I did it. Without really knowing how to say it, I somehow think that gradually saying “good-bye” to 50 years worth of cooked favorites might have made it a bit easier.

But regardless, I’m here and I’m not going back.

Smacznego,
Tom
