Any Raw Foodists In Japan?

by email on August 12, 2008

I came across this rather interesting article about the price of some grapes in Japan. Now while these grapes may be quite special, what caught my attention was the following:

Fruit is generally expensive in Japan, and people often buy grapes, peaches and melons as luxury gifts.

Which leads to a couple of questions:

1. Are there any raw foodists in Japan (of the 80/10/10 variety)?

2. If so, are the prices really as high as this article insinuates? If so, how do you deal with it?

Thanks for the help…

Smacznego,
Tom
