Carrots, Celery, and Cucumbers

by Administrator on August 1, 2009

Today I’ve decided to stop by the grocery store before I go to work and purchase some carrots, celery, and cucumbers. I’m going to snack on them today instead of choosing other “stuff”.

Why? Because I think I can successfully add them to my diet, at least for today. So why not? It’s another incremental step towards returning to 100% raw.

I’ve had my mind “wrapped around” returning to raw lately, so I’m accepting this as the next logical step towards returning to the 80/10/10 raw food diet. I recently read a post by Leo Babauta of ZenHabits.net where he talked about being open to what emerges. I thought that making a veggie stew would be my next “logical step”, but thanks to Leo’s post, I’m willing to accept these vegetable snacks as my next logical step. And why not? It is a positive step and it’s something that I want to do after spending a lot of time thinking and meditating about my return to an all raw diet.

Thanks, Leo, for that great blog post. There’s no point in sweating the small stuff, as they used to say a long time ago… Especially when you’re still on track and taking positive steps towards your goal.

Just one word about the carrots: They are a hard vegetable that grows under the ground (which you probably already knew). My ultimate goal is to eliminate, to the maximum extent possible, all of those hard vegetables that grow under the ground, which would include carrots. But I’m willing to accept them at this point, simply because they will move me closer to my goal — and they are certainly better than a bag of potato chips! Again, it’s a positive step, and I can work on eliminating them later, after I’ve moved closer to my final goal.

Enjoy what’s left of the weekend!
