My Magical Food And How It Helps Me Stay Focused
As I popped open my smoothie jar today and started enjoying it, I suddenly realized something. You see, I haven’t had any strawberries for a couple of weeks, and for the first time in a long time, I’m actually eating a smoothie with strawberries.
That first bite hit me. It was WONDERFUL! I don’t know what all went into it (my wife made it after I went to bed, bless her), but I do know, simply from taste, that it has strawberries and blueberries in it (along with bananas, as almost all of my smoothies do).
That strawberry - blueberry combo is superb. Wonderful. Fantastic!
But it also just made me realize something: eating strawberries on a regular basis is crucial to my staying motivated to eat 100% raw.
Lately (in case my regular readers couldn’t tell!) I’ve been getting a bit bored with this diet. I even ate a few cooked meals — BY CHOICE — for a couple of days recently. Part of that was convenience while traveling and part of that, to be honest, was boredom. But tasting the strawberries in this smoothie just set me back about four months — to the time when things were very exciting, when I was losing weight, feeling better, and could see and tell that I was doing The Right Thing.
So I’ll be eating more strawberries from now on because I’ve realized that they are important to my success.
How about you: Do you have a magical food?
Smacznego,
Tom
I hear ya on that strawberry-blueberry combination! I discovered that around Day 5 or 6, and I’ve been including it in almost every single smoothie since! I like bananas enough by themselves, but for some reason, I don’t really like them in smoothies - I usually use oranges as a base instead of bananas. Sometimes I’ll throw a kiwi or two in as well, for some extra added flavor. =)
