April 3, 2008: A Double Digit Thin-It?

by Administrator on April 4, 2008

Back in my Army days, we tended to get transferred to a new Army base every three to four years. When a person was within 100 days of their departure date, we called that person a “double digit midget” (With apologies to short people… it’s not my intention to insult; it’s just the way it was… :( ) because their total number of days left in the unit was under 100 — hence, double digits (and “midget” just happened to rhyme — and this was before the days of “widgets”…).

Today the scale told me that I weigh 99.5 kilograms, so I’m officially declaring myself to be a “Double Digit Thin-it”. No point in insulting anybody else!

A very nice benefit of my newly adopted lifestyle.

Today marks Day 22 of my all raw foods lifestyle. Do I still have cravings for cooked food? I honestly don’t know. For example, I was reading an article about Progressive Stadium being one of the ten best stadiums in Major League Baseball today (it’s even better when Cleveland’s baseball team is winning; I won’t type their nick-name here because it insults some… Change the name, guys!) and got to thinking about grilled hot dogs with mustard. Love ‘em! — or at least used to. As I was thinking about how good they tasted, the question popped into my mind: What would you do if one were put in front of you RIGHT NOW?

I can honestly say that I don’t think that I’d eat it. First, I don’t want to risk putting cooked food in my body at this point. It would un-do the progress I’ve made over the past few weeks, put more “gunk” in my detoxifying body, and would put me at risk of illness. Second, what would that thing” offer me? I’ve read the stories about what they put in hot dogs… Yuck! And finally, my current diet is healthy, tastes good, and very low fat.

So while I enjoy THINKING about cooked food, I don’t think I’d actually EAT it.

I shudder when I think about the amount of fat I was putting into my body just several weeks ago (before I started this blog and the transition to a raw diet). To be honest, I consider myself to be deeply blessed because nothing adverse seems to have happened to me. And after getting to hear Dr. Joe Mercola in person this past weekend in Los Angeles (he gave presentations on natural health and monetizing a website at Yanik Silver’s Underground Online Seminar), I don’t know if I’ll ever eat a french fry again! While I did sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to attending the sessions, I don’t think anybody would mind me saying that french fries are very bad because they are loaded with trans fats… Go to Dr. Mercola’s web site (http://www.mercola.com) and do a search for trans fats. Hopefully it will change your mind, too.

My wife no longer allows trans fats in the house. Good-bye, toaster pastries!

I’ve been slowly adding some exercise to my daily routine. Today I took two 2,500 step walks and eventually want to build up to the point where I’m taking a 10,000 step walk every day. I’ll then add some flexibility routines, then throw in some strength building exercises. I need to get my six pack back before I hit the beach this summer! LOL! (But it’s going to happen).

Enough for today. I still owe you the “trip report”; perhaps this weekend?

Smacznego,
Tom

P.S. — Are you considering making the transition to an all raw foods diet? Please leave a comment and let me know! If you don’t want me to publish your comment, just make a note to that effect in your remarks and I won’t approve it for public view — but I’d love to trade emails with you and perhaps answer some of your questions.
